This beautiful baby is an orphan mystery photo that was picked up in Fresno California. All that I can tell is that it was taken by Craven photographers in Wayne Nebraska.
On the back of the photo all I can read (this was done in pencil) is:
"Lizzy Swanety,
Little Beth age 9 1/2 months weight 15 pounds, born april 17th, 1898. Hair black, eyes dark blue, ...."
There is a lot more information but I can't read it!! I hope to engage someone's help soon to help decoding the impressions left with the pencil on the back of this photo.
Unknown baby photo with a very nice description (done in pencil) on the back. Who is this baby?
I think I might have found a possibility on the 1900 Census for you. In Deer Creek Township in Wayne County, Nebraska there is a Beth Yaryan born April 1898. Her parents are George and Margaret Yaryan. She has three older siblings born in 1880, 1883, and 1886. Ancestry indicates her on the 1910-1920 censuses but I haven't checked it out. Her father was a farmer born in Iowa. Her mother was born in Ohio and was 39 at the time. The two older children were born in Iowa. It seems to fit the parameters (dates, location) of the picture..a possible lead to follow.
There also appears to be a tree at Ancestry as well. They have her birth year wrong there but her mother died in California in 1953. Beth went on to marry supposedly a William Herter. The birth years for Beth is off unless the 1900 and 1910 are both off by 10 years on her age!
Okay..now I can't leave a mystery alone. She apparently died in Amarillo, Texas on December 29, 1993 and the SSDI birth date of April 17, 1898 matches the date given on the back of the photo. She was living with her husband in Iowa in 1925 and was in California by the 1930 census!
Susan you are AMAZING! I JUST posted this photo and you might have a serious match!!! I wonder if any of her relatives are around and reading this so that they could help verify? I'd like to add more details to this photo so that her family can find this!

I am interested in the last names Pinna, Benning, Kroetsch, Finazzo, and Kroetch. My family pays a lot of attention to the past which heavily influenced us to start AncientFaces.
