Monterey Park Drum and Bugle Corps Special Event: My mother, Betty Maddux Lechtenberg (R) and her cousin, Peggy Mae, were active members of the Drum and Bugle Corps. On this occasion they were introduced to the elderly gentleman in the center, whose name was not recorded on the photo. He was a Civil War Veteran who shook hands with Abe Lincoln. It was a special event for the girls to shake hands with a man who shook hands with Honest Abe.
