Bob Ross - Artist on PBS

A photo of Robert Norman Ross better known as “Bob Ross” from the PBS television show The Joy of Painting.

As a child I would religiously watch Bob Ross every weekend on PBS. I spent a lot of my time as a child painting and sketching, and it’s because of him that I got introduced into oil paints. I think it was a combination of his art and his soothing voice that drew my attention.

Of course Bob Ross is credited with being the informal founder of ASMR which is a trending popular subject on YouTube.

Robert "Bob" Ross was a talented painter who hosted The Joy of Painting television series that ran on PBS from January 11th, 1983 through May 17th, 1994. He began painting after 20 years of service in the Air Force, where he went on to make the wet-on-wet oil painting technique popular.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
