Charles Emery "Charlie' Holbrook, of West Liberty, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at his residence at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 23 days. He was born on Saturday, May 22, 1926, at Lenox, Kentucky, a son of the late William Proctor and Delphia Lewis Holbrook.

He was united in marriage to Evelyn "Totsy" Adkins on August 7, 1945. To this union was born three children, Sandy, Terry, and Mary Charles. Charlie was a certified mechanic and parts manager for Chevrolet, a retired bus driver for Gateway Head Start, and partial owner of the former Teusty and Holbrook Ashland Service Station. He was saved and baptized and was a member of Lacy Creek Church of Christ, and a member of the Highland Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers, William Proctor Holbrook Jr. and R.C. Holbrook, two sisters, Bertha Howell and Gretta Gilliam, and two infant sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Totsy Holbrook, three children, Sandy Shivley of West Liberty, Kentucky, Terry and Judy Holbrook of Florence, Kentucky, Mary Charles and John Howard of Morehead, Kentucky, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Jimmy and Bina Sue Adkins of West Liberty, Kentucky, one sister-in-law, Ella Mullins of Navarre, Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Raymond Vancleve and Elder Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Salyer Cemetery, West Liberty, Kentucky.

Visitation after 6 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Potter Funeral Home, with Masonic Services to be conducted by Highland Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers: Ronnie McDowell, Chad Carpenter, Jeffrey Lykins, Derrick Holbrook, Jeremy Holbrook, Scott Wright, Tony Adkins, Kevin Adkins, Ivan Gilliam and Larry Gilliam.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
