Bess Brown Blackburn they are, some of the early 1900's dresses as lovely but the 20's remain my favourite, some of the family groups have made us laugh 😂
They both look scared to death. She looks like she is brazing herself for what´s to come, no doubt warned by her mother and elder and already married sisters - and he, poor guy, looks terrified, absolutely not sure at all what he is supposed to do. Chances are they will wake up in the morning as innocent as when they went to bed... Hopefully they all worked it out in time!
Ulla Cocke Perhaps her father is standing nearby with a shotgun. The bouquet could be hiding her pregnancy. If not, l hope the bridesmaid held the huge bouquet during the wedding ceremony.
1920s. really, I alway thought the placement of flower tiaras and veils from roughly 1910 til 1930 was dowdy. The short casual dresses must have been exciting and new then, seen for the first time, but now look overly casual, even stingy
Helene Marie Thian, it's a great little town, but it's growing so fast it's not going to be a little town for much longer. Progress is inevitable, but it still makes me sad.
Beautiful photo. I say 1920's. I love her dress and hair. I'm going to say this was a family of some wealth at the time, even the groom has a ring. That is unusual.
The people commenting are hilarious.....They had a long happy marriage...if they look nervous, so what !!! I look happy as all get out in my wedding pictures, and it only lasted 13 miserable years....LOL
Saundra Crenshaw Hayman They had to be still for the photo or it would have blurred. Photography was very expensive so they most likely stayed in a neutral position in order not to mess up a very expensive process.
Jan Mortimer the exposure time on photographs back then made maintaining a smiling pose tricky, also because people would only have one or two photographs taken in their lifetimes, the fashion was for a more demure, serious, stance. More like a painting portrait.
