Darrel R. “Skip” Holbrook, 71 of Cozad passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Cozad Community Hospital.

Darrel Rae Holbrook was born March 2, 1948 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Edwin M. Holbrook and Amalia Molly (Strackbein) Holbrook. He attended school in Lexington. Skip married Patricia Joan Schultz on June 3, 1966 in Lexington, NE and to this union were born three children, Angela Marie, Amalia Ann and Simon Peter. Skip worked with his father-in-law at the Shultz Dairy for many years delivering milk. He later worked at the hay mill and Price’s Tree service. Skip also helped with a moving service and delivered shrouds to the laundry service.
Skip enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, being a bouncer at the Blue Lounge, watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers and especially loved scratching lottery tickets.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Amalia; brother Dave “Stoney” Holbrook and ex-wife Patricia Joan Schultz Holbrook Pickering.
Skip is survived by his children Angela Coble and husband Adam of Funk, NE, Amalia Halouska and husband Ed of Sterling, CO and Simon “Rocky” Holbrook and wife Angie of Willow Island, NE; grandchildren Zachary Schwarz and wife Stacey, Jeffery Schwarz, Kamron Coble, Gregory Coble, Mackenzie Coble, Jacob Halouska and wife Robyn, Joshua Halouska, Victoria Koeller and husband Vincent, Alexandrea Halouska, David Garza and wife Ashley, Neatasha Owens and husband Brandon, Julie Garza, Pracilla Huertas and husband Brandon, Quintel Holbrook, Natalya Holbrook and Patricia Holbrook; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by sister Kathy Holbrook and brothers Gene Holbrook and wife Bonnie, Mick Holbrook and wife Jean and Paul Holbrook

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
