Obituary
David Holbrook

Age 75 of Owosso passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 7pm Friday September 16, 2016 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Strawser officiating. David's final resting place will be at Riverside East Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
on Friday from 4pm until time of service.



David was born June 5, 1941 in Durand, the son of Roy and Tressa (Cramer) Holbrook.

He graduated from Durand High School and attended Baker College

David enjoyed photography and has decorated his walls through the years with his many photos. He looked forward to swimming, canoeing and bike rides and especially loved playing games with his grandchildren. David was a member of Shiawassee Council on Aging and delivered Meals-on-Wheels for 16 years.

He married Sally Ockerman; she predeceased him on September 11, 1986.

David retired from Johnson Control Battery Plant after 32 years as a supervisor.

He is survived by his loving companion of 21 years Donna Lovato; children Roy D. (Billie Jo) Holbrook, Heather Brasseur and Heidi Holbrook (Mark Willson); grandchildren Grantland Armstrong, Brennan Armstrong, Sally Armstrong, Savanah DeVellis, Kaidan DeVellis, Mariah Brasseur, Miah Holbrook and Maycee Willson; sister Sandra Butcher and many other loving family and friends.

David was predeceased by his wife, infant son Joel, parents and sister Barbara Lake.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Shiawassee Council on Aging.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
