St Clair, July 2- Donald Johnson, nine, son of Henry Johnson and Mrs. May Johnson, Marysville was drowned Friday afternoon when his rowboat capsized in St. Clair river off the east end of Adams St. It was the sixteenth drowning in St. Clair county since the first of the year. According to state police, the boy, who was visiting this brother, Eugene Johnson, borrowed Eugene's boat without the latter's knowledge. The body was recovered by Edward Leach, Superintendent of public works, who was dragging from Miller Ferry boat, State police and citizens assisted in dragging. Justice Frank D Beadle, acting coroner and Dr. F. V. Curney pronounced death due to accidental drowning. The remains are in the Bower & Son funeral home here, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday Rev H. A Pegg, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillsdale [sic] cemetery.

My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
