Eldon Leon Spurgeon, 82 of Eldon 1940 - 2022 Missouri

Eldon Leon Spurgeon, 82 of Eldon, entered his heavenly home on October 25, 2022, surrounded by family. Eldon was born on July 24, 1940, in Queen City, MO to James and Marcelline Spurgeon. He married the love of his life, Judy Reaves, in Marion, Iowa on August 30, 1958.
Eldon was raised and educated in Davis County and was a member of the Eldon Christian Church. Eldon had a love of farming which included over 40 years milking Holsteins. The love of the family farm was passed down to his children. He also worked at Excel for over 20 years.
Eldon loved riding his Gold Wing motorcycle with his wife Judy. In later years he enjoyed antique John Deere tractors and his 1954 Chevy, but most of all spending time with his family.
Eldon married Betty Rysdam on December 12, 2009, and they enjoyed life on the farm together.
Eldon is survived by his wife, his daughter, Kippen (Adam) Richards of Riverside, his two sons, Jerry of Eldon and Matt (Melissa) of Eldon, and close friends Willie (Martha) Petersheim. Eldon was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Kaitie Richards, Ana, Cordell, Emma and Gage Spurgeon and one great grandson Amariyon Starks.
He was preceded is death by his children's mother Judy, one son Dickie, one brother James (Judy) Spurgeon, one sister Lola (Ab) Fortner and his parents.
Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Open visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon, Iowa with the family present to greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to his family or to Hospice Compassus and may be mailed to P.O. Box 105, Eldon, IA 52554 or to 1444 Willow Brook Ln., Riverside, IA 52327. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
