Elson John Walkem of Australia was born on October 26, 1917 in Launceston, TAS to John Boomer Walkem and Elizabeth Ida Mary Bayles. He had siblings Lancelot George Walkem and Sheila Dorothy Eva Walkem. He married Grace Patricia Mcguire, and had children Gaile Walkem, Graeme John Walkem, and Julianne Frances Walkem. Elson Walkem died at age 56 years old on December 30, 1973 in Launceston, and was buried on January 3, 1974 at Carr Villa Memorial Park in Kings Meadows.
