I have two old studio photographs belonging to the JONES Family of New York. The first photograph is of James JONES which was taken at the F. E. Abbott Studio in Little Falls, NY sometime in the 1900's with James appearing to be in his teens or 20's at the time the photograph was taken. The second photograph is of Emma JONES and was taken at the Marshall Studio in Cazenovia, NY in the 1900's with Emma likely in her 30's or 40's at the time the photograph was taken.

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this JONES Family:

James William JONES was b. 1 Aug 1899 in New York to parents David Champion JONES (1869-1950) and Nora Mae COUNTRYMAN (1872-1933). The family was living in Danube, NY during the 1900 census. James was one of four children born to this family including Fanny C.; Raymond; James William; and Jantes W. JONES, all born between 1890 and 1900. James married Irene Esther or Ester OLIVER (1899-1974) on 1 Oct 1919 in Little Falls, NY and they had a daughter Thelma Louise JONES (1922-2000). James died in July 1979.

Emma Mae NICHOLS was b. 18 Apr 1880 in Jordanville, NY to parents David C. NICHOLS (1845-1910) and Elizabeth “Libbie” Kroztint KROBE (1853-1928). Emma was one of 8 children born to this couple including Nettie E.; Harriet “Hattie” C.; Emma Mae; Alvah or Alva Edgar; Edna May or Mae; Charles Ross; Elizabeth “Bessie” N.; and Anita Louise NICHOLS, all born between 1875 and 1893. Emma married Benjamin Hamilton JONES (1877-1971) on 4 Jul 1901 in Ilion Co. NY and they had two children including Edna M. JONES (1906-1983) and Dorothy Elizabeth JONES (1917-2005). Emma died 13 Feb 1977 in East Herkimer, NY.

I’d like to get the photographs back to family and would appreciate you reaching out if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
Date & Place: at Marshall Studio in Cazenovia, Madison County, New York 13035, United States
