Fred John Moschberger
Fred John Moschberger is the son of Friedrich "Frederick" Moschberger (1883-1937) and Frances Kuhn (1887-1978). He was born on June 2, 1924 in Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey and had siblings including Francis Josephine Moschberger (1913-1995), Marie Magdalen Farrell Moschberger (1916-2006), Eleanor Josephine Moschberger (1920-1943), and Walter Joseph Moschberger (1926-2019). On June 30, 1942, Fred registered for the draft when he was 18 years old. At the time of registration, Fred was employed by Singers Mfg. Co. Then on March 12, 1944, Fred enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Air Corps and held the rank of First Lieutenant or Lieutenant Junior Grade. Fred was assigned to the North African Theatre, specifically serving in Italy. During his service, he was attached to a Single-Engine Fighter Group, which indicates that he may have been involved in aviation support or fighter operations. Unfortunately, at some point during his service, Fred was reported as being detained in Germany. However he was later returned to military control. He was discharged on October 21, 1945, marking the end of his active military duty. After his time in service, he married Maryann "Susan" E. Moschberger (1924–2015) on May 4, 1946 and the couple had three children together.

My mom's side of the family is Swedish (and still lives in Sweden) and she instilled in me lots of Swedish heritage and traditions which has made me who I am today. My dad's side of the family is German and Irish and the most likely the side of the family I get all my freckles from. Family is so important, and welcome everyone to discover more about them, their history, and share about their loved ones who make up the history of who we are!
