Frederick Floyd Thwing
I've recovered an old photograph album from the late 1800's including faculty and students from Oberlin College which includes a photograph identified as Fred THWING. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Fred likely in his 20's at the time it was taken. Most of the photographs, like this one was taken by the Pfeifer Studio from Columbus, OH who probably came to take all the photographs at the Oberlin campus. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Fred and his family:

Frederick “Fred” Floyd THWING was b. 30 Nov 1858 in Chardon, OH to parents Myron THWING (b. 1830) and Harriet Melissa NEWELL (1833-1861). Fred was one of 6 children born to this couple including Millard Myron; Durrell Delavan; Ada Adella; Ida Isabella or Isabelle; Frederick Floyd; and Wavil or Wavel or Wasel Evart THWING, all born between 1854 and 1869. Fred married Bertha E. or C. EAKINS or RANS (1861-1947). Fred died 10 Feb 1931 in Jefferson County, KY and is buried in the Chardon Municipal Cemetery in Chardon, OH.

I’d like to get the photograph to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
Date & Place: at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Lorain County, Ohio 44074, United States
