Love old photos that are taken at home, rather than a studio. It's neat to see what the inside of a house really looked like over 100 years ago!

My grandmothers were both born in the late 1880s. Your photos give me the visual insight to the stories that have been passed down verbally. Them and also my great great grandparents. Thank you.

I grew up close to one grandmother who had an enormous home that served as a boarding house on the top floor. Victorian furnishings even up until the 1950s when I remember that home the most. Same with another grandmother who had a small Victorian cottage. I remember especially the hanging picture frames and doilies.

Look at the hanging lamp up in right hand corner- similar to the one I have of Moms !! Only this looks electric ?

Ann Trudeau Maybe they made some electric after electricity was invented-

Ann Trudeau They did have gas lights in some cities back then, before electricity.

Kate Kirkpatrick - this is so neat! Makes me remember Grandma Horan's rooming house and the big Victorian pieces she had upstairs. I still have that highboy kind of thing with the glass front.

I so wish we could see the colors of all those pieces...the pattern onthe carpet, wallpaper, lamp shade, etc.
