H.B. Holbrook, 84, of Tate Township, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2021, in the comfort of his home, under hospice care. He was born February 22, 1937, to the late Kelley and Delilah (née Fugate) Holbrook, in Breathitt County, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Randall (Connie) Holbrook, and grandson, Aaron Holbrook.

He is survived by his wife, Janice (née Ratliff) Holbrook, of 62 wonderful years. He is also survived by a son, Rodney (Ramona) Holbrook, and daughter, Rhonda Gail (Mike) Brewer. Grandchildren, Brittany (Daniel) Stephens, Joshua Holbrook, Mindy (Anthony) Smith, and Daniel Brewer, great-grandchildren, Peyton Smith, Landyn Smith, and Shiloh Stephens, siblings, Gora Pitner, Georgie Bowling, Virgil Holbrook, Forrest Holbrook, Jalie Williams, Betty Holbrook, Estelle Hall, Charlie Holbrook, and Krean Gross.

H.B. will be remembered for his plaid shirts, his different sense of humor, his love for God, and his devotion to his church. While dating Janice, they were at a drive-in movie, he had looked at her and said 'we 'ought to be in church', so to church they went. He loved gospel music and had played guitar with a gospel group. The family that he created with Janice meant the world to him. He greatly adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his face would light up when he saw them. He would carefully spend his money so he could splurge on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he couldn't seem to put a dollar amount to see the smiles on their faces. He also enjoyed traveling, coffee, and watching wrestling.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
