Harriet Quimby was an American pioneering aviator and the first female in the United States to earn her pilot's license (1911) and later went on the be the first female to fly across the English Channel in 1912.
She was also a journalist and screenwriter who wrote seven screenplays.
She died at the early age of 37 why flying in the 3rd annual Boston Aviation Meet.
