Harrison Franklin Rutledge was known as "Harry" to everyone in Gilmer who knew him. He was the second or six children born to William Archibald Rutledge and Sarah Ophelia Durham. His son, Lowell, continued the tradition of telling wonderful stories. His granddaughter, Rosalyn, not only continued the storytelling tradition, she went one step further and became a published novelist.
