Jesse Wendell Brooks
I have an old studio photograph of Jesse W. BROOKS which was taken at the Bogardus Studio in New York City, NY. The photograph appears to be one taken when Jesse was a student in the Class of 1884 at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Jesse and his family:

Jesse Wendell BROOKS was b. 26 Sept 1858 in Cheshire, CT to parents Jesse Royce BROOKS (1820-1900) and Louise Amelia SMITH (1835-1932) who were married 9 Oct 1856 in Cheshire, CT. Jesse had three siblings, brothers Charles M. BROOKS; Julie BROOKS (1859-1910); and Henry Smith BROOKS (1871-1961).

Jesse married Louise W. Bissell UPHAM (1863-1938) on 16 May 1884 in Brooklyn, New York and they had 9 children including Rev. Wendell Stanton; Henry “Harry” Nathan; Ernest or Earnest Cecil; Phillips or Phillip; Louise Jessie; Berenice Marie; Beatrice Myraq or Myra; and Louise BROOKS, all born between 1886 and 1903.

Jesse died 21 Jul 1920 in Chicago, IL and he is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, IL.

I am hoping to get the photograph to his family and would appreciate you contacting me at your earliest convenience regarding the photograph and this family.

Thanks,
Shelley
