Six month old little Joel Olson of Iowa is SO adorable! It's difficult to believe that this precious photo has lost its family. Do you have a Joel Olson from Iowa in your family tree? The owner is looking to reunite the original photo with loved ones.

Linda Willems I am not a relative of this family but just did a quick genealogy search and found family record and vital for his death. Did not do more since we do not know if family wants privacy or ?.

Linda, they probably just lost track of these treasures. Hope someone sees it and can be reunited with it.

A lot of people find these pictures creepy, but I love them.

I have a few old pictures somewhere of people unrelated to me, I just find it sad that they ended up in junk or at a flea market.

Beautiful. ♥️

I think it might be. I'm the one who found the photo and after I posted it I found some additional information that helped me get closer to knowing who it is. I have connected with someone who is probably the 3rd cousin twice removed of Joel's wife or daughter. As I've gotten closer I have started wondering more about privacy and what happens to family estrangement when the people have passed and left children/grandchildren who know nothing about each other - NOT saying that is what happened here!

I am fascinated by old photographs, especially those of my ancestors and ones that show the history of cities I've visited (plus World's Fair photos). Old photographs separated from people who want them seem to be attracted to me which is good if I can find those people but also inconvenient because this is not an easy task.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
