John Anthony Holbrook
March 23, 1950 ~ May 29, 2021 (age 71)

John Anthony Holbrook (71) of Harbor Springs, MI passed away on May 29th, 2021 at his home. John was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School in Flint, MI. He proudly served for seven years in the U.S. Air Force testing nuclear missiles and went on to work for Buick Engineering as an experimental test mechanic. His most important job, however, was being a devoted father and friend. John always wanted to spend his retirement snowmobiling and boating around the Great Lakes region. He achieved his dream with the love of his life, Pamela, and the two built their dream home on the river in Cheboygan, MI in 2004. Johnny worked hard and played hard. He will be dearly missed and remembered most for his indefatigable humor and heart. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Pamela S. Holbrook of Harbor Springs MI, son Samuel (Winter) Holbrook and grandchildren Pierce and Lauren Holbrook of Raleigh-Durham NC, son J. Charles Holbrook and granddaughters Isabella Helsley and Gabriella Holbrook of Boyne City MI, stepdaughters Adrianne (David) Herbst of Ferndale MI, and Leigh Ann Link of Kalamazoo MI, sister Leslie Cool of Pasco WA, brother Danny (Linda) Holbrook of Flint MI, sister Debora (Anthony) Floria of Flint MI, as well as several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Maxine Holbrook and brother-in-law Russell Cool. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Karmanos 10 West. Pam and John would also like to express their sincerest gratitude to longtime friend Nancy Jankowski, whose tireless efforts, love, and support brought them both immense comfort. A memorial will take place on Saturday, June 12th at Swartz Funeral Home 1225 W Hill Rd, Flint, MI 48507. Visitation starting at 11am - Funeral 2pm. Donations can be made in John's memory to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.mmrfg.org.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
