Kathryn Elizabeth Hoy Chambers
I have an old studio photograph of Lizzie HOY CHAMBERS which was taken at a studio in Mifflinburg, PA in the early 1900's with Lizzie likely in her 20's at the time it was taken. I believe that this is a photograph of Catherine Elizabeth "Lizzie" HOY CHAMBERS and with the help of a genealogist I have gathered the following information regarding Lizzie and her family:
Kathryn or Katherine or Catherine Elizabeth “Lizzie” HOY was b. 9 Feb 1885 in Limestone Township, Union County, PA to parents James Gebhardt or Gebhart HOY (1856-1945) and Mary Ada GETZ (1858-1942) who were married 30 Dec 1880 in Buffalo Township, Union County, PA. Lizzie had one sibling, a brother Jonas Henry HOY (1889-1961). Lizzie married Clarence Sampsell CHAMBERS (1881-1954) on 24 Feb 1909 in Mifflinburg, PA, and they had two children including James Robert CHAMBERS (1912-1979) and Charles William CHAMBERS (1917-1986).
Lizzie died 22 Oct 1962 in Lewisburg or Kelly Township, Union County, PA and is buried in the East Side Cemetery in Mifflinburg, PA. Lizzie’s obituary lists her surviving family members including sons J. Robert CHAMBERS and Charles W. CHAMBERS both of Mifflinburg, PA. Her son James Robert CHAMBERS was married to Kathryn “Kat” S. CHAMBERS, and they had a daughter Linda Lou CHAMBERS BOYER who were deceased prior to 2001 when her mother Kat passed. Kat’s obituary lists surviving family including grandchildren Bethanne BOYER and Wendy B. SAUERS both of Mifflinburg, PA; and Amy BOYER of New York City, NY; and great-grandchildren Katy J. SAUERS and Ryan P. SAUERS both of Mifflinburg, PA; and a son-in-law Millard D. BOYER of Mifflinburg.
Her son Charles William CHAMBERS had a son Charles Michael CHAMBERS who died in 2020. Charles Michael’s obituary lists his survivors including a son Ben CHAMBERS of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Laney and Abby CHAMBERS; and a sister Sue GRIFFITH of Mifflinburg, PA.
