Our funny, charismatic, witty, kind brother Kevin (Troy) Holbrook passed away on April 13th, 2020 at the age of 51 after a seven week battle in the hospital due to complications with pneumonia caused by a staph infection, ARDS, multi-organ system failure, and sepsis further complicated by his uncontrolled diabetes. Troy was born on December 27, 1968 to Jeri Code Holbrook and Joseph Briggs Holbrook. Troy lived for a short time in both Sunset and Bountiful, Utah, but spent the majority of his childhood in Riverdale, Utah. He attended Bonneville High School and served in the Army Reserves for 4 years after graduation.
He was a gentle giant who always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He never missed the opportunity to tease, though he never could handle being on the receiving end very well
He loved the outdoors, especially playing golf, fishing, hunting, and hiking (taking naps while camping, ha). He loved playing basketball and football and had a wicked strong arm and 3-point shot.
Troy was the third of 4 children with an older brother and sister and a younger sister. Though he never married, he was a fun uncle to 6 nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and was the proud dog parent to his much adored chihuahua Beau.
Troy worked for many years at Cargill Salt where he made many friends.
Troy is survived by sisters Joey Holbrook Clayson (Eddie) and Heather Larsen Doutre (Kerry), and his nephews and nieces Tyson Clayson, Josh Clayson, Jordyn Dea, Colton Clayson, Sarandon Doutre, and Dantley Doutre. He was preceded in death by both his parents and older brother Stephen as well as all 4 grandparents.
As Covid-19 turned our world upside-down in April, 2020 preventing gatherings over 10 people, Troy was interned in the Bountiful City Cemetery shortly after his death with no services. A short graveside service is now planned for September 5, 2020 at the Bountiful City Cemetery 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, UT 84010 at 4:00 PM. We invite all those willing to travel to Ogden, Utah after the service to join us at a park where we will provide Tony's pizza.... which was Troy's absolute favorite. We would love to have you join us to share fun memories of our brother. He would want us to laugh and tease and would have preferred a laid-back gathering. Because he was known to show up to formal gatherings in golf attire (hey, it was by a course and the weather was good), we are requesting this shindig be casual dress. Come in shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops.... you get the idea. He would have loved it.
We already miss him like crazy.
Love you so much, Troy

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
