LEO SEITING OBITUARY
Leo Seiting
Leo Sieting, of Fife Lake Michigan, went home to heaven suddenly on May 12th, 2022. Born on April 30, 1937 in Kalkaska MI, Leo was the second son of Marion and Stella Sieting. Leo Sieting and Olive Kay Hall were united in marriage on July 4th, 1959 in Kalkaska Michigan. Upon graduation from high school in 1955, Leo attended the University of Michigan majoring in forestry and was a member of the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps. Leo enlisted in the United States Army Infantry as a heavy weapons specialist in the 8th Infantry Division serving in Germany until his honorable discharge on December 19, 1958. In 1959 Leo joined the Michigan State Police where he served the State of Michigan in Warren, Manistee, Gladstone, Paw Paw, and Bad Axe, culminating his career in 1983 as 1st Lt. Leo Sieting, Commander of State Police Post 33 in Bad Axe, Michigan. Leo was a devoted Sunday school teacher at Covey Hill Baptist Church in Paw Paw, Michigan and First Baptist Church of Bad Axe, Michigan. Leo also led a Bible Study Group in Fife Lake Michigan until his time of death. Leo loved hunting and fishing in Northern Michigan. His hobbies were carving, intarsia, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leo is survived by his wife of 63 years Kay Sieting; three children Vicki (Brian) Stand of Eagan MN, Craig (Lori) Sieting of Sierra Vista AZ, and Liese (Darryl) Parish of Bad Axe MI. Leo was the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Leo was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Stella, and his brother Charles James Sieting. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kalkaska Funeral Home and the funeral service will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Kalkaska Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
