Lorraine Martha (Olsen) Halli
The well respected poet Lorraine Martha (Olsen) Halli was born to Arthur and Lillie (Walstad) Olsen. She had siblings Ward, Lyle, Audrey, and Margaret, Arthur, and Frances. She had another brother whose information is private because he is still living. In the 1930 Federal census, Lorraine was 8 years old and living with her parents and siblings Ward, Lyle, Audrey, and Margaret in Minneapolis MN. Both of her parents were born in MN. In the 1940 Federal census, Lorraine was 18, still living at home, and working as a policy writer, full time. Also in the household were Lyle, Audrey, Margaret, and Arthur, her siblings. Lorraine married Matt August Hall I, CM3 US Navy, (June 13, 1919- October 17, 1997) on November 14, 1944 in Hennepin Minnesota and they had children Joanne (Halli) Sjoberg (Feb 27, 1952-?) Charlie, and Kathy. Matt's mother was Kaisa "Kate" Sophia Vuoti, born in Finland, and Erick Halli, also born in Finland. Of course, she is best remembered by many for her work as a writer and poet. Lorraine passed on September 7, 2006 at the United Hospital & Nursing Home in Saint Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota, USA. She was cremated on Sep 11, 2006. At the time of her death she was a widow. See Lorraine Martha (Olsen) Halli: Obituary to read Lorraine's obituary from the StarTribune.

My mom's side of the family is Swedish (and still lives in Sweden) and she instilled in me lots of Swedish heritage and traditions which has made me who I am today. My dad's side of the family is German and Irish and the most likely the side of the family I get all my freckles from. Family is so important, and welcome everyone to discover more about them, their history, and share about their loved ones who make up the history of who we are!
