In the 1940 Federal census, Lorraine was 18, still living at home, and working as a policy writer, full time. Also in the household were Lyle, Audrey, Margaret, and Arthur, her siblings. Lorraine married Matt August Hall I, CM3 US Navy, (June 13, 1919- October 17, 1997) on November 14, 1944 in Hennepin Minnesota and they had children Joanne (Halli) Sjoberg (Feb 27, 1952-?) Charlie, and Kathy. Matt's mother was Kaisa "Kate" Sophia Vuoti, born in Finland, and Erick Halli, also born in Finland. Of course, she is best remembered by many for her work as a writer and poet. A House A Home Poem
What is a house?
It’s brick and stone
and wood that’s hard.

Some window glass
and perhaps a yard.

It’s eaves and chimneys
and tile floors
and stucco and roof
and lots of doors.

What is a home?
It’s loving and family
and doing for others.

It’s brothers and sisters
and fathers and mothers.

It’s unselfish acts
and kindly sharing
and showing your loved ones
you’re always caring.
