Loyd Lee Laugherty's father was Pearl Dexter Laugherty (1900 - 1976) and his mother was Nora Gustave Cheatham (1897 - 1980). He had siblings Hoyle Eugene "Jack", and Margaret Ruth Laugherty. When Loyd was age 4, he was living with parents Nora and Pearlie in Knoxville, Tennessee on W. Scott Street. Also in the household wer his siblings Jack and Margaret. Dad Pearlie was a laborer in an auto body plant. When Loyd was 18, he was still living in Knoxville and unemployed. His father, with whom he was living, was his next of kin. He was 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighed 127 pounds. He had blue eyes and brown hair and a "ruddy" complexion. Loyd Lee married Lois Kathleen Cummins (1924 - 1991) on December 3, 1949 in Campbell, Tennessee. When Loyd was 24, after World War II, he was living in Detroit Michigan with wife Lois and the Ransom family. He was working carrying boxes at an auto manufacturing company. He then married Chloe Bird (1916 - 2015) on April 9, 1994, in Travis, Texas.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
