My father threw his medals away after he returned from the war. I believe they went into the Yarra river in Melbourne.
These are a replacement set which we got for my mum in later years
Lyle Mitchell Thomas of Mtbe Australia was born in 1925 to Agnes Mary Thomas and Herbert Leslie Thomas. He had siblings Vaughan Thomas, Hazel Thomas, and Les Thomas. He married Freda Anne Thomas (Née Cook), and had children Barbara Gaye, Kenneth Mitchell, Ian Leslie, and Susan Josephine Thomas. Lyle Thomas died at age 59 years old in 1984 in Mtbe.
