Martin Douglas Holbrook

August 28, 1961 - February 19, 2022

Martin Douglas Holbrook, age 60, of Henrico, Virginia passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Born August 28, 1961, in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of Meda Dye Holbrook and the late Lloyd Holbrook. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Dee Deskins; his brother David (Mary) Holbrook, sisters Judy (Marlin) Howell and Susan (Scott) Hodge. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jenn (Craig) Barton, Kim (David) DePena, Zoe Hodge, Michael (Tamara) Holbrook, Shawn (Liz) Howell and Isaac Hodge, great-niece Lucy Barton and great-nephew Tristan Holbrook. Martin grew up in Bluefield Virginia. He graduated from Graham High School and earned his BS degree in Finance from Virginia Tech in 1983. He began his career as a bank internal auditor before moving to Richmond, Virginia where he worked as Manager of Bank Examinations at the State Corporation Commission. Martin was a lifelong follower of the Washington Commanders and an avid fan of Virginia Tech football and basketball. He enjoyed traveling but also cherished the simpleness of life and spent many joyful hours reading, playing disc golf, and staying connected with family and friends. Martin will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In honoring Martin's wishes, there will be no formal services.
