Martin Janto
Martin Janto was born on Nov 11, 1918 in Cudahy, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA to parents George Janto (1882-1961) and Anna Malincik Janto (1887-1944). He had older siblings Anna, John, and George as well as younger siblings Susan and Steve Janto. They grew up in Cudahy, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He enlisted on December 23, 1942 in Milwaukee Wisconsin and served in the US Army from Dec 30, 1942 until Nov 2, 1944 and is a World War II veteran. Martin attended and completed post-graduate work at the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as well as attended the Chicago Art Institute in Sorbonne, Paris. He was the Shop Instructor, Art and Architecture Teacher, and Faculty Advisor to the Yearbook at Browning High School in New York City and worked for the school for 20 years in the 1960s and 1970's. He was a faculty advisor for the newly created Photography Club at the Browning School in 1967. Mr. Janto retired in 1990 to the home in Maine where his family had summered since 1965.
