If you have Gaelic roots, you may know Beltane - the celebration of the summer season on May 1st. In Germanic cultures, the celebrations go back much further in time and involve the Maypole - which survived into the 20th century. All cultures in the past had a way to celebrate our connection with the Earth - this 1925 photo in Washington DC is an example.
