Melva Eckard
I have an old studio photograph of Melva ECKARD which was taken at the J. Dougherty Studio in Bucyrus, OH. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Melva just an infant at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Melva and her family:

Melva Wynona ECKARD was b. 14 Jul 1881 in Bucyrus or Liberty or Sulphur Springs, OH to parents Abraham “Abram” ECKARD or ECKART (1831-1883) and Catharine “Kate” ANDREWS or ANDREW (1840-1921) who were married 4 Nov 1858 in Crawford, OH. Melva was one of 7 children born to this couple including Clementh or Clement Larn; Eunice Jennie; Emanuel Henry; Caroline Mary or May; Abraham; Leoland or Leopold or Lester or Leland “Ola” P.; and Melva Wynona ECKARD, all born between 1859 and 1881.

Melva and her family moved to Dawson, NE when she was just two years old in 1883. Melva married Leo “Lee” Daniel HOCK (1883-1973) on 12 Dec 1916 in Seneca, KS or Dawson, NE and they had two daughters, Marlea or Marleah Ruth HOCK TURGEON (1919-2017) and Lynelle C. HOCK (b. 1925). The family lived in both Grant and Richardson, NE and Melva died 10 Dec 1957 in Falls City or Dawson, NE and is buried in the Heim Cemetery in Dawson, NE.

Her obituary lists her surviving family members including her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Lynell MCNALLY of Lincoln, NE; and Mrs. Marlea R. GOODWIN of Evanston, IL.

I am hoping to locate someone from Melva’s family so that that this treasure can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
