MICHAEL JOHNSON OBITUARY
Johnson, Michael 7/28/1963 - 12/28/2022 Michael W. Johnson, age 59 of Marne, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Kathryn (Zimmer) Johnson; his mother, Theresa (Madura) Johnson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul Sr. and Jacqueline Zimmer; and his brother-in-law, Michael Zimmer. Mike is survived by his children, Leanne (Adam) Hawley and Daniel (Ashley) Johnson; granddaughters, Brianne and Marlee Hawley; his father, Robert Johnson; his sister Rose (Steve) Walkotten; his nephew, Nicholas Walkotten and his niece, Melissa (Tony)Hohman; his in-laws, Paul (Linda) Zimmer Jr., Barbara (Claude) McManus, Margaret (Brian) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was born on July 28, 1963 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated Grandville High School in 1981 and was a Standale resident for many years. Mike loved vacationing with his wife and going hunting and fishing. Being "Paw" to his granddaughters was one of the greatest sources of joy in his life. Mike loved to read, especially books about Upland Bird Dogs. Private interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. The Johnson family invites relatives and friends to a Celebration of Mike's Life on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at the Marne American Legion Post 376 located at 1469 Arthur Street, Marne Michigan 49435. In memory of Mike, please consider contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
