MICHAEL JOHNSON OBITUARY
Michael R. Johnson was born on April 17, 1941 in McCook Nebraska to Aline and Richard Johnson. He entered into rest on February 28. 2020 at the age of 78.
Michael's family moved around a lot throughout his childhood, Iowa, and Michigan were just a few of the states he lived in. Eventually he settled in Michigan, where he attended Oakland University. It was there that he achieved his Bachelor's degree in business and finance, a degree that served him well as a Manager and later I.T programmer for what is now Comerica Bank. Later on in 2005 Michael received his Bachelor of Music, specializing in Organ Performance through the College of Arts and Music of Oakland University.
After completing his degree, Michael was able to dedicate his life to his true love, music. He showed his real talents as an organist and pianist. He was also a first tenor for many years in the Oakland Choral Society and a long time member of the American Guild of Organists. He was so talented at playing the piano that he was able to get a job making the punch-hole paper rolls for player pianos, shortly after he graduated high school. Growing up he was involved in the Episcopal Church which his uncle served as a priest, and this guided him to several jobs he loved. He was the Music Director for the Grace Episcopal Church in Mount Clements, and at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Waterford, where he worked for over 26 years. In addition to those jobs he also assisted on the organ and choral work at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac.
Once Michael retired his love for music continued to shape his life. He often made outings to the Detroit Opera House to enjoy opera and he often visited the Detroit Theater Organ Society for concerts. He also enjoyed traveling; trips to Germany, Norway and England were just a few of the countries he visited throughout his adventures. However, visiting the U.P. was one of his favorite places to spend time.
Michael was known for his polite nature, but having a dry sense of humor. He also had a wide range of knowledge and loved to answer jeopardy questions.
Outings with his friends to the Green Lantern Restaurant, to enjoy Fish and chips, pizza or a sweet treat were Michael's favorite ways to spend a day. He will be deeply missed by the music community of Metro-Detroit and the many friends he leaves behind.
Memorial instate will occur on Monday, April 17, from 6pm until the memorial service at 7pm, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, Michigan.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
