Mrs. Charles DANN
I have an old studio photograph identified as Mrs. Charles DANN who was visiting Mt. Washington, KY from Kissimmee, FL. An additional note on the back says “Please return picture Miss Lulie SWEARINGEN of Mt. Washington, KY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890’s or early 1900’s with Mrs. DANN likely in her 20’s or 30’s at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mrs. DANN and her family:

Margaret “Mam” May or Mae BARNES was b. 2 Apr 1874 in Mt. Washington, KY to parents Edwin Augustin BARNES (1842-1910) and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Sarah FOX (1846-1917) who were married 12 Nov 1865 in Bullitt Co., KY. Mam was one of 5 children born to this couple including Grace “Gracie” Elizabeth or Eleanor; William; Henry; Henry Jacob; and Margaret “Mam” May BARNES, all born between 1868 and 1874. Margaret married Charles Whitfield DANN (d. 1945) on 30 Jun 1897 in Osceola Co., FL and they had two children including Elizabeth Maurine DANN (1898-1997) and Charles Whitfield “Bud” DANN Jr. (1904-1997). Mam died 11 Apr 1973 in Miami, FL.

Lulie SWEARINGEN was b. 1871 to parents Henry H. SWEARINGEN (1825-1898) and Martha C. SWEARINGEN (1830-1905). She was one of three children born to this couple including siblings Katie SWEARINGEN (1859-1929) and William H. SWEARINGEN (1862-1925). Lulie died in 1925 and is buried in the Mount Washington Cemetery in Mount Washington, KY.

I am hoping to get the photograph to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
Date & Place: in Mount Washington, Bullitt County, Kentucky 40047, United States
