Mrs. Harry REITZEL
I have an old studio photograph identified as Mrs. Harry REITZEL of Braceville, IL which was taken 18 June 1888. The photograph was taken at the S. W. Tate Studio in Pontiac, IL with Mrs. REITZEL appearing to be in her 30’s to 50’s at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information on two possible woman that may be pictured in the photograph:

Henry “Harry” REITZEL or RITZEL or RETZEL Sr. was b. 1824 in Bavaria, Germany and married Louisa or Louise MUNCH or MUNSCH or MERRILL (b. 1833) on 29 April 1851 in Will County, IL. The couple had 8 children including Henry; Mary L.; Elizabeth; Margaret “Maggie” Mary; Gertrude G.; John; Caroline “Carrie”; and Joseph REITZEL; all born between 1852 and 1868. Harry died 21 Jan 1894 in Cook County, IL.

Their son Henry “Harry” REITZEL Jr. was b. 1852 in Illinois and married Agnes RODENSCHMIT (1854-1942) on 17 Nov 1880 in Will County, IL. They had four children including Henry G.; Minnie; Sylvester L.; and Joseph Peter RITZEL or REITZEL, all born between 1881 and 1885. I think it could be either woman.

I’d like to get this photograph back to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.

Thanks,
Shelley
