N'Gai's parents were Ivan Dixon (1931 - 2008) and Berlie Mae Ray (1930 - 2019). He had 3 siblings. N'Gai's IMDb profile says that Ivan was an actor (Sgt. Kinchloe on the television show "Hogan's Heroes"). N'Gai also acted. He played the 10 year old "Herman Washington" in "A Storm in Summer" (television, 1970), which was his first professional acting job. This synopsis of the television show appeared in The Boston Globe, Boston Massachusetts, on April 27, 1971: "Hall of Fame. "A Storm in Summer", Rod Serling drama, with Peter Ustinov in Emmy-winning role as an elderly Jewish delicatessen owner. N'Gail Dixon, age 10, son of Ivan Dixon, plays the skeptical youngster. Repeat. 7:30 (4)."

My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
