Just found out that Ralph Gabriele was named by his father Rocco Gabriele for his brother Ralph Gabriele. Their family changed their names to Gabriel. Heard from Roberta Gabriel Falbo who didn't know about my Uncle Ralph.
My parents first t.v. was a 25" b&w Admiral which set up on spindle legs. 1960ish. The first personal t.v. I bought for my apartment was a 13" b&w portable yellow Quazar. It worked for30 yrs. and then quit.
This is the first tv I remember my family having. Even after we got a larger one, this old one was stored in a closet, and, when I was sick and home from school (measles, mumps, German measles, scarlet fever, chicken pox, colds), my mom would get it out, roll it to my bedroom, and plug it in so I could watch the old movies on the afternoon movie station.
Born January 10, 1901 in Calabria as the son of Rocco and Rosina Gabriele from Cruccoli in Calabria, Italy. He was the grandson of Leonardo Gaetano Gabriele.
He was originally known as Raffaele Gabriele but by 1920 he had already changed his name. He was the brother to Teresina Mariagrazia Gabriele who changed her name to Grace Gabriel by the time she was 14 years old. His close friend was the widow of his brother Elmo, Julia Gabriel. Elmo was known as Armand but he was born Armanto Gabriele until he also changed his name. My Uncle Ralph never married. He was a warm and friendly guy and flirted with every woman my mother introduced him to. As an Uncle, he was the best of my six uncles. He came to visit us more than the others. Only Uncle Jimmy Gabriele visited us too because the other uncles lived in other States.
