RALPH HOLBROOK OBITUARY
Flint - Ralph Allen Holbrook, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Jacob's Ladder Hospice Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He was born in Flint, MI to Norval and Emogene Holbrook and was the youngest of three children. Ralph was a Hospital Corpsman (HM2) in the United States Navy and served his country with pride. He went on to Ferris College and graduated with a degree in Pharmacology before moving to Flint to start a family with his bride Jean Ann (Delong) Holbrook. They raised three children together in the Flint area and were active in the community. He opened Northwest Drugs in downtown with his business partner Nick Poulos. Ralph was preceded in death by Jean Ann (Delong) Holbrook, Brenda (Damon) Holbrook, Dorothy (Williams) Holbrook, his parents, both sisters Rosamond Barnhart of Midland and Ruth Miehm of Flint. Surviving are Ralph's three children Jeffrey (Debbie Sholes) of Flint, Kenneth (Mary) of Holland, and Mary Jean (Diane Oppenheiser) of Flint, one grandchild Holly (Justin) Sybesma, step-daughter Christie (Damon) Aldrich and many nieces and nephews. Ralph retired to Paragould, Arkansas and was remarried to Dorothy (Williams) in 1999. He was an active water aerobics instructor and was involved in the Gideons International in Paragould as a Chaplain. They enjoyed traveling the country in their golden years before relocating to Michigan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held for family and close friends at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on August 14, 2017 at 1:00PM.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
