Richard Emory Holbrook February 2, 1930 - May 17, 2023

Richard Emory Holbrook, age 93, of Meadville, PA passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday May 17, 2023 at Wesbury. He was born on February 2, 1930 in Meadville, PA to the late Emory and Tillie (Kebort) Holbrook. He married Elsa J. Carpenter on February 15, 1958. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2019.

Dick graduated from Meadville High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army. He worked at Sears Roebuck as an appliance repairman. He was also an instructor at the Votech for small appliance repair.
Dick was a lifetime member of Vernon Township #27, where he was also a former trustee and former fire chief. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #2006 and a member of American Legion Post #205. He and his wife wintered in Florida for over 30 years, where he enjoyed shrimping.

Dick is survived by his sons, Timothy Holbrook and his wife, Patti of Meadville, PA and Thomas Holbrook and his wife, Deanna of Conneaut Lake, PA; his grandchildren, Keith Holbrook of CA, Erica Shaulis and her husband, Cody of Saegertown, PA, Dalton Holbrook and his wife, Brittany of Linesville, PA and Molly Holbrook-Smith and her husband, Brent of Conneaut Lake, PA; five great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Helen Pierce of Meadville, PA and his brother-in-law, Richard Miller of NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers-in-law, Norman Pierce and Louis Carpenter Jr. and his sister-in-law, Winifred Miller.
Services will be private of the convenience of the family. Dick will be laid to rest with his wife at Greendale Cemetery.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
