Robert Gibbs Ostrander- Second Victim In Crash
Engineer in the plane when crashed was Robert Ostrander. 26, Graduate of Syracuse University in Aeronautical Engineering. He was native of Wellsboro Pennsvivania, served during the war with the US, Army Signal Corps. He and been living at Brampton for almost a year.

Mrs. Ostrander was married 15 months ago, has one son, Dick, three months old. Friends say she will leave Brampton immediately for her home in Camden, N.Y. Her husband's parents yesterday came up to comfort her in her grief.

Robert Ostrander
Robert Ostrander was born on October 26, 1922 in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, United States of America to parents Glenn Vance Ostrander (1898-1984) and Laura Mae (Downs) Ostrander (1902-1937). He had a younger brother, Harry Vance Ostrander (Jan 31, 1924-July 26, 2007). Robert was a graduate of Syracuse University and earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. At the age of 19, he registered for the draft on June 30, 1942, in Syracuse, New York, where he resided in Dewitt. Prior to his enlistment, Robert worked at Continental Can Co. in Syracuse. On October 17, 1942, Robert made the courageous decision to enlist in the Signal Corps of the Army of the United States. He became a Private and joined the 882 Signal Company Depot, Aviation Signal Corps. Robert dedicated himself to his military service, serving from 1942 to 1946. On December 30, 1949 he married Mary Ann Meagher (1929–2021) in Syracuse, New York, USA. They had a son together, Dick Ostrander.
