On December 30, 1949 he married Mary Ann Meagher (1929–2021) in Syracuse, New York, USA. They had a son together, Dick Ostrander.

Robert G. Ostrander was an aeronautical engineer and a test pilot for the Canadian government when his jet fighter crashed and exploded in 1951. He and Flt. Lt. Bruce Warren, New Toronto, were killed.
Robert was a son of Glenn Vance Ostrander and his first wife Laura Mae Downs. She died June 27, 1937, Dewitt, New York.
Mr. Ostrander was married to Mary Ann Meagher.
He is survived by his wife, a four-month-old son, his father and step-mother, a brother and half-brother of DeWitt; his grandparents of Elmira.

Mrs. Ostrander was married 15 months ago, has one son, Dick, three months old. Friends say she will leave Brampton immediately for her home in Camden, N.Y. Her husband's parents yesterday came up to comfort her in her grief.
