I have a group of four old photographs belonging to the PRUGH Family of Pennsylvania including the following:

1 - Edwin Nevin PRUGH, taken at Javens Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, 1880's or 1890's, man in his 30's, note "Father"

2 - Laura GHRIEST PRUGH, taken at Elite Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, 1880's, in her 20's, note "Mother"

3 - Rev. Dr. Peter Cornelius PRUGH, taken at L. W. Zuver Studio in Butler, PA, dated 26 Aug 1893 at World's Fair, in his 60's or 70's, notes "Grandpa" and "Father's father" and "lived to 98"

4 - Charlotte HASSLER PRUGH, taken at Zuver Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, 1880's or 1890's, in her 50's or 60's, note "Father's Mother's"

Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:

Sarah Charlotte HASSLER was b. 11 Apr 1828 in Mercersburg, PA to Jacob HASSLER (1787-1848) and Elizabeth KIEFFER (d. 1856) who were married in 1817 in Mercersburg, PA. Sarah was one of 10 children born to this couple including Joseph Kieffer; John Peter; Frances Ann Rebecca; George W.; Rev. Jacob; Hannah Mary; Sarah Charlotte; Jane Elizabeth; Melvina Etta; and Danie Kieffer HASSLER, all born between 1818 and 1835. Sarah married Rev. Peter Cornelius PRUGH (1822-1920) on 2 Apr 1852 in Philadelphia, PA and they had 14 children including Edwin Nevin; Rev. John Hassler; Andrew Baughman or Bachman; Augustine; Daniel Kieffer; William Schaff; Sara Jane; Emma Jane; Etta Katherine or Catherine; Peter Melancthon; Mary Augusta; Frances Grace PRUGH; and two baby boys, all born between 1853 and 1870. Sarah died 17 Jul 1898 in Germantown, PA and is buried in the North Side Cemetery in Butler, PA.

Peter Cornelius PRUGH was b. 13 Sept 1822 in Dayton or Kettering, OH the son of John PRUGH (1794-1878) and Catherine HAYNES or HAINES or MAINES (1791-1875) who were married 21 Nov 1816 in Frederick, MD. He was one of 10 children born to this couple including Jesse; David H.; John Wilbur; Peter Cornelius; Henry; Nathan; Gideon George; Jacob Valentine; Catherine E. Ann; and Thomas Luther PRUGH, all born between 1818 and 1835. Peter graduated at Mercersburg, PA and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and retired from the ministry in 1903. Peter died 3 Jun 1920 in Los Angeles, CA and is buried in the North Side Cemetery in Butler, PA.

Edwin Nevin PRUGH was b. 9 Jul 1853 in Xenia, OH and he married Laura Anna GHRIEST (1863-1922) on 23 Jun 1892 in Pittsburgh, PA and they had 6 children including Elizabeth Grace; Margaret H.; Edwin Nevin Jr.; Loretta Shillito; Helen Catherine; and Frances Charlotte PRUGH, all born between 1893 and 1909. Edwin died 16 Nov 1926 in Bellevue, PA and is buried in the Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.

Loretta “Laura” Ann or Anna GHRIEST was b. 20 Mar 1863 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents George Holmes GHRIEST (1837-1881) and Loretta “Mark” SHELITO or SHILLITO or SCHILETTO (1839-1925) who were married in 1856 in Pennsylvania. Laura was one of 6 children born to this couple including Annetta “Annie” A.; Margaret “Maggie” Jane; George Thomas; Loretta “Laura” Ann or Anna; Charles Hanson Love; and Elizabeth “Lizzie” C. GHRIEST, all born between 1856 and 1867. Laura died 7 Dec 1922 in Xenia, OH and is buried in the Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.
