Without advancing or changing the film in the camera, it looks like the photographer shot the 4 face shots of this lady....with the last shot being the back to you shot. All 5 shots onto one exposure.
What is funny is he changed around the hat, from one shot to the next, to make it look like different ladies with the same clothes on. (the feather is on different sides of the hat)

Left side front and back are not mirror images or the feather would be facing each other in the hat. AND the two rear ladies wouldn't be facing us if it were mirror image because the would be sitting shoulder to shoulder behind the front left and right ladies.

Easy to do with film, just don't advance the film to take multiple exposures on one frame.

I kinda think he was shooting on glass negatives....took various shots, then overlaid them and developed it??? I am not an old photographer who works with glass negatives, but it might be possible?

I agree with you. Multiple shots on one negative would show overlay. I did this with a modern camera--it was not a convincing shot.

Maybe it's quadruplets, we can't tell what the 5th lady looks like. Or 2 sets of twins and 1 other sister or friend. OR maybe just twins and it's double exposed.
