Sumpter Hutcherson Adams of Rocky Mount, Edgecombe County, North Carolina United States was born on October 25, 1891 in Pittsylvania County, VA to Julia Ellen (Richardson) Adams and Thomas Jefferson Adams. He had siblings Ila L Adams, Ula Leslie (Adams) Bartee, Ryntha Amanda (Adams) Gray, Walter Lenwood Adams, Annie Ruth (Adams) Rawls, Sybil Gertrude (Adams) Glenn, Curtis Jefferson Adams, and Harry Henry Adams. He married Emma Virginia Tanner Adams on April 27, 1918, and they were married until Sumpter's death on September 4, 1935 in Rocky Mount, Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He had children Frances Lillian (Adams) Gray, Marion Louise (Adams) Manning, and Charlotte Ray Adams Maddox. Sumpter Adams was buried on September 5, 1935 at Pineview Cemetery, 761 E Raleigh Blvd,, in Rocky Mount.
