"This year for the first time tennis was made a major sport by the Student Body. Also for the first time a regular schedule of matches was arranged for the squad. Ted Merryweather of the AG Department consented to coach the boys, and under him they blossomed into a formidable squad...they met their ancient rivals, the Santa Cruz Cardinals, in a practice match. The Cards were swamped under a 14 to 3 score..."
