Thomas Gilmore Wooff is the child of Esther E Reibsamen (1896-1978) and William Henry Wooff (1883-1953). He was born on March 2, 1927 in Britt Iowa and had siblings William Lyle (1919-1983), Betty Esther (1920-1986), Elwin Lee (1930-1999), Arthur Forest (1935-2006), and Ethel Jane (1935-2012). He was a graduate of Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA and he joined the military on December 21, 1945 and is a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII . Tom was married to Dorothy M Noska. They had children Julie and Cathy Wooff. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed collecting stamps, and watching sports on TV. He worked in the Moving and Storage Industry for 40 years and was well known for knowledge and highly respected. He always had a smile on his face and loved to make people laugh. Thomas Gilmore Wooff passed away on July 10, 2008 in Redwood City, San Mateo, California.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
