While Rudolph Valentino was "the cat's meow" or "bee's knees" with women, Josephine Baker was a sensation in 1920s Paris. Considered scandalous in the US, and limited by her skin color, when she moved to Paris, true fame and appreciation followed. She was called "an exotic dancer" and died in Paris in1975.
