Two ladies and group of dogs in the mountains

Two ladies and a group of dogs in the mountains. Location is unknown but could be Colorado or Alaska. On the back of the photo one of the ladies has written the following message: "what do you think of my dogs? You will know me, I am the one in the white waist." the surnames could be Sollers, Samples, Murphy, Smith or others

This photo was found in a box of old photos and is very old and torn. Family legend has it that it is a "relative" that was adventurous and went to Alaska, but the name is unknown. Does anyone know who these ladies are?
