This photo was one of three unknown comrades of Col John L. Haynes, who served in the Civil War as a Union Commander of a cavalry regiment, despite being a resident of Laredo Texas. The collar brass clearly shows crossed rifles and a U.S. pin. He has a "iron cross" like medal on his chest. He is pictured with a woman, most likely his wife.
It was found in a private collection of Col. Haynes memorabilia in Laredo Texas.
No family member has as yet recognized this photo or two others which accompany it.
