Virgil A. Holbrook, 75, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.

He was born on April 17, 1945, in Whitesburg, KY to Robinson Nelson and Velta (Niece) Holbrook. On January 3, 1970, he married Ruth Webb and they have three daughters, Tracy (Larry) Hemminger, Delta Holbrook and Donna (Kevin) Mitsch.

He is also survived by his brother, Steve (Darlene) Harts of West Liberty; sister, Barb (Mark) Milroy of Tiffin; and three grandchildren, Levy, Spencer and Hunter Hemminger, all of New Riegel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred Harts and Billy Nelson Holbrook; and sister, Mattie Weible.

Virgil served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966 and worked at General Electric, Tiffin Glass House, was co-owner of Holbrooks Body Shop and retired from Fostoria Industries after 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to garage sales and flea markets, driving his side by side around the woods, liked to wheel and deal on everything, took pride in his truck, was close with his girls and loved his family.

His Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Larry Owsley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery with military honors by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday at the Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
